Letters of Recommendation

Letters of Recommendation: A Guide for Students

I am typically happy to write a letter of recommendation for anyone whose work I am familiar with. If you've enrolled in one or more courses taught by me, I can probably write you a letter of recommendation. The letter will always be honest, as will my discussion of the letter, so if you want to know if it would be a very good letter or anything like that, you can ask me.

If I have agreed to write a letter for you, please provide me with the following information so that I can write the best letter possible. (The earlier you provide this information, the more helpful it will be to me. If I receive it the day before the deadline, it will be harder for me to write a good letter.)

  1. A list of the graduate programs to which you are applying.
  2. All of your application materials (e.g. transcripts, statement of purpose, writing sample).
  3. The deadline for the each of the letters.
  4. Any information you would like me to include in the letter.

Sometimes an application asks you to put in a phone number for me. If it does, use +91 1302300825.
